Under the Integrated Planning Act, local councils are required to produce a strategic plan. All aspects of local government responsibilities are mapped and planned for the next 10-15 years. Standards and policies related to bicycle transport, pedestrians and people with disabilities will be guided by this enormous planning document. CAIRNS PLAN
It is important that people in the community contribute not only to the formation of this plan but also to see that the contents are carried out for the benefit of the whole community.
Cycling is a major transport mode for the people of Cairns. Therefore it is essential that a high standard of facilities are documented in the plan and that works for roads and paths actually reflect the vision, aims and outcomes for cycling in Cairns.
