ROCKHAMPTON TO BRISBANE
This route was ridden in 1988 by Bicycle Australia to celebrate the Australian Bi-Centenary and was accompanied by a support vehicle. This route is an inland highway which is designed to allow riders to explore the country side away from the busier highways. Individual and group riders are advised to study the route, weather and places of interest, then design your own itenary. Travel tips:-
Do three things - PLANNING, PLANNING and PLANNING. Get maps. (Map shop - Andrejic Arcade, Cairns). Bicycle computer is essential. Record distances and take notes and photos as you go. Carry plenty of water. Carry spare tube and patches. Carry tools. Be seen; Wear white, orange or red clothing. Be cool; Wear long sleeved white shirt and visor with helmet. Queensland Road Rules:-
Wear a helmet. Ride on the left side of the road. Front and rear lights and rear reflector, at night.
