The Capricornia Trail

ROCKHAMPTON TO BRISBANE

  • This route was ridden in 1988 by Bicycle Australia to celebrate the Australian Bi-Centenary and was accompanied by a support vehicle. This route is an inland highway which is designed to allow riders to explore the country side away from the busier highways.

  • Individual and group riders are advised to study the route, weather and places of interest, then design your own itenary.

    Travel tips:-

  • Do three things - PLANNING, PLANNING and PLANNING.
  • Get maps. (Map shop - Andrejic Arcade, Cairns).
  • Bicycle computer is essential. Record distances and take notes and photos as you go.
  • Carry plenty of water.
  • Carry spare tube and patches.
  • Carry tools.
  • Be seen; Wear white, orange or red clothing.
  • Be cool; Wear long sleeved white shirt and visor with helmet.

    Queensland Road Rules:-

  • Wear a helmet.
  • Ride on the left side of the road.
  • Front and rear lights and rear reflector, at night.

    Go by train into the City of Brisbane. From Ipswich you can continue south via Mt Lindsay.
